( We said, “Descend from it, all of you. And when guidance comes to you from Me, whoever follows My guidance – there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve ) (38)

We said to them: Descend all of you from Paradise to Earth. And if guidance comes to you through My messengers, then whoever follows it and believes in My messengers will have no fear in the Hereafter, nor will they grieve over what they missed of this world.

( And those who disbelieved and denied Our signs – those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally ) (39)

As for those who disbelieved and denied Our signs, those are the companions of the Fire; they will never leave it.

( O Children of Israel, remember My favor which I have bestowed upon you and fulfill My covenant [to you] that I will fulfill your covenant [to Me], and fear Me [alone]. ) (40)

O sons of the Prophet Jacob, remember God’s successive favors upon you and be grateful for them, and adhere to fulfilling My covenant to you: to believe in Me and My messengers, and to act according to My laws. If you fulfill it, I will fulfill My covenant to you in what I have promised you: a good life in this world, and a good reward on the Day of Resurrection. And fear Me alone and do not break My covenant.

( And believe in what I have revealed, confirming what you have, and do not be the first to disbelieve in it. And do not exchange My revelation for a small price, and fear Me alone.) (41)

And believe in the Qur’an which I revealed to Muhammad (peace be upon him) as it came in the Torah before it was corrupted, concerning the Oneness of God and the prophethood of Muhammad. And beware of being the first group to disbelieve in it, and do not exchange My verses which I revealed for a small price of status and leadership, and fear My wrath and My punishment.

( Do not mix the truth with falsehood or conceal the truth while you know it.) (42)

Do not mix the truth – which I revealed to My messengers – with the lies you fabricate, and do not conceal the truth that came in your books about the description of Muhammad, while you know it and are certain of it.

( And establish prayer and give zakah and bow with those who bow (in prayer).) (43)

And perform the prayer completely, with its pillars, obligations, and recommended acts, and give the zakah from your wealth that God has placed in your hands, and submit to God with those who submit to Him from the nation of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.

( Do you enjoin righteousness upon the people and forget yourselves while you recite the Scripture? Then will you not reason?) (44)

How ugly it is that you enjoin others to believe and do good, while you yourselves turn away from it, forgetting yourselves, while you read the Torah, knowing what it contains of the command to follow the religion of God and to believe in His messengers. Do you not benefit from your minds?!

( And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is a burden except for the humbly submissive.) (45)

Seek help in all your religious and worldly affairs through patience and prayer, which draws you closer to God and connects you with Him, so He may aid you, protect you, and remove your afflictions. Indeed, prayer is difficult and weighty except for those who are submissive to their Lord.

( Those who are certain that they will meet their Lord and that to Him they will return.) (46)

That is because they are the ones who are certain that they will come before their Lord and meet Him on the Day of Resurrection, and that to Him they will return so that He may reward them for their deeds.

( O Children of Israel, remember My favor which I have bestowed upon you and that I preferred you over all the worlds.) (47)

O sons of the Prophet Jacob, remember My religious and worldly favors which I have bestowed upon you, and remember that I have preferred you over the people of your time who are contemporary with you with prophethood and kingship.

( And fear a Day when no soul will avail another at all, nor will intercession be accepted from it, nor will any ransom be taken from it, nor will they be aided.) (48)

And place between yourselves and the punishment of the Day of Resurrection a shield by obeying the commands and abstaining from the prohibitions. That is the Day when no soul will avail another at all, and no intercession will be accepted from anyone to avert harm or bring benefit except by the permission of God. No ransom will be taken, even if it were the earth filled with gold, and they will have no helper on that Day. So if no intercessor, no ransom, and no helper will avail, then where is the escape?!

One of the greatest forms of betrayal is for a person to command others to be righteous while forgetting himself.

Patience and prayer are among the greatest aids a servant can have in all his affairs.

On the Day of Resurrection, neither intercessors nor ransom will avert punishment from a person, and nothing will benefit him except his righteous deeds.
