( We do not abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten except that We bring forth [one] better than it or similar to it. Do you not know that Allah is over all things competent ? ) (106)
Allah Almighty explains that when He abrogates the ruling of a verse from the Qur’an or removes its wording so that people forget it, He – in His infinite knowledge and wisdom – brings forth something more beneficial for them in this life and the Hereafter, or something equivalent to it. And you, O Prophet, know well that Allah has power over all things; He does what He wills and decrees what He intends.
( Have you not known that Allah has the kingdom of the heavens and the earth? And you have besides Allah no protector and no helper. ) (107)
You have known, O Prophet, that Allah is the Owner of the heavens and the earth. He decrees whatever He wills, commands His servants with what He wills, forbids them from what He wills, establishes in legislation what He wills, and abrogates what He wills. And you have no guardian besides Allah to manage your affairs, nor any helper to ward off harm from you. Rather, Allah alone is the Guardian of all that and the One who has full power over it.
( Or do you intend to ask your Messenger as Moses was asked before? And whoever exchanges faith for disbelief has certainly strayed from the soundness of the way. ) (108)
It is not for you — O believers — to ask your Messenger questions of objection and obstinacy, just as the people of Moses asked their prophet before, such as their saying: “Show us Allah outright.” And whoever substitutes disbelief for faith has indeed strayed from the middle path, which is the Straight Way.
( Many of the People of the Scripture wish they could turn you back to disbelief after you have believed, out of envy from themselves, after the truth has become clear to them. So pardon and overlook until Allah brings His command. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent. ) (109)
Many of the Jews and Christians wish that they could turn you back, after your faith, to disbelief — as you used to worship idols — out of the envy in their hearts. They wish this after it has become clear to them that what the Prophet came with is the truth from Allah. So pardon, O believers — overlook their actions, and forgive their ignorance and the evil in their hearts — until Allah’s decree concerning them comes. And indeed Allah’s command has come, and His ruling is that the disbeliever is given the choice between Islam, paying the jizyah (tribute), or being fought. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent, and they cannot frustrate Him.
Then after Allah commanded the believers to be patient in the face of harm, He commanded them to remain steadfast in their religion and strengthen their faith; so He said: The next verse follows in the image, but is not fully shown.
( And establish prayer and give zakah; and whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with Allah. Indeed Allah, of what you do, is Seeing ) (110)
Perform the prayer completely, with all its pillars, obligations, and established Sunnahs.
Give out the zakah of your wealth to those who are entitled to it.
Whatever righteous deed you do in your life – sending it ahead before your death as a stored treasure for yourselves – you will find its reward with your Lord on the Day of Resurrection, and He will recompense you for it. Indeed, Allah is All-Seeing of what you do, and He will reward each person according to their deeds.
( And they say, “None shall enter Paradise except one who is a Jew or a Christian.” That is [merely] their wishful thinking. Say, “Produce your proof, if you should be truthful.) (111)
Both the Jews and the Christians each claimed that Paradise is exclusively for them. The Jews said, “None shall enter it except those who are Jews,” and the Christians said, “None shall enter it except those who are Christians.” These are their false hopes and corrupt delusions. Say, O Prophet, to them: “Bring your evidence for what you claim, if you are truly sincere in your assertion.
( Yes, whoever submits his face to Allah while being a doer of good – then his reward is with his Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve ) (112)
Paradise is entered only by those who sincerely devote themselves to Allah, turning to Him alone, and who – along with that sincerity – are doers of good in their worship by following what the Messenger brought. Such a person enters Paradise, regardless of which religious group they belonged to (before the final message). Their reward is with their Lord, and they have no fear regarding what awaits them in the Hereafter, nor do they grieve over what they missed of this world.
However, these qualities are not fully realized after the coming of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ except within the Muslim community (those who follow him)
From the benefits of page 17:
That all authority belongs to Allah; He changes whatever He wills of His rulings and laws, and preserves whatever He wills of them, and all of that is in accordance with His knowledge and wisdom.
The intense envy of many of the People of the Book toward this nation (the Ummah), due to what Allah has favored it with of faith and following the Messenger, to the point that they wished for it to return to disbelief as it was before.
